About three years ago I came across SoftScience™ footwear. This brand of comfort footwear began In 2013 by Scott Seamans a founder and chief designer of Crocs, and John Duerden former president and chief operating officer of Reebok. The two got together and set out to design shoes that would take comfort casual footwear design to a new level. SoftScience uses a material on all of their outsoles and footbeds named Trileon™ which is a lightweight yet dense closed cell co-polymer that is highly resilient, supportive and odor resistant. Their shoes provide a cushioned and supportive design helping to reduce foot, ankle, knee, hip and back pain.
They base the structure of their shoes on simple principles of biomechanics in order to provide the wearer with all day comfort and support. One such principle is supporting the foot in a level and neutral position in order to allow the body to align properly. This level foot position has a zero heel rise or drop keeping the front of the foot at the same level as the heel. Shoes with minimal elevation changes from heel to toe keep the foot level, which is natural and healthy and helps disperse body weight evenly across the sole of the foot, reducing pressure points.
SoftScience™ footwear also has a generous toe-box and fit that allows the foot and toes to spread out and relax in a natural alignment. The contoured footbed is designed to evenly distribute the body’s weight to reduce pressure points. All of these elements together make for one amazing comfort shoe! They are perfect for wearing while fishing, boating, a day at the beach and even when working in doctors offices and hospitals.
